This checks our sample text, read by one open-source parser from the PDF that Google Docs' File > Download > PDF produces. It isn't a score, and it doesn't tell you how Workday, Greenhouse or any other hiring system will read your own resume. About this example
Michelle is moving toward clinic work, so her summary and first job focus on clinical services and patient results. Her retail management job shows she can run an operation. The PharmD is written out in full even though the parser we test with doesn't recognize it.
How to write a pharmacist resume
License and board certification first
Employers check the state license and certifications like BCACP or immunization training before anything else.
Show clinical services
Pharmacists counsel patients and manage conditions like diabetes and anticoagulation. Patient numbers and outcomes, such as A1c change, set you apart.
Show the operations side too
Prescription volume, staff size and inspection results matter for retail and management roles.
About the PharmD line in this sample
The open-source parser we test with only knows Associate, Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees, so it doesn't read a PharmD. We kept the real degree name; recruiters read it fine. The parser panel lists it as shown but not counted.
Cover letter lines for a pharmacist role
An opening and a closing written for the person in this example. Swap in your own numbers and the role you're applying for. Every template comes with a matching cover letter for the middle.
I'm applying for the Clinical Pharmacist position in your primary care clinics. At Quenmore Health Partners I manage about 180 anticoagulation patients and started a diabetes visit that lowered average A1c from 10.2 to 8.1 in six months.
I'd welcome the chance to talk about how pharmacist visits could work in your clinics. Thank you for your time.
Common mistakes on pharmacist resumes
- Listing dispensing as the main skill. Every pharmacist dispenses. Lead with the clinical or management work that's specific to you.
- Leaving out the license state. Write the state, and note if you hold licenses in more than one.
- Rotations after years of practice. Once you've worked a few years, drop the rotation list or keep it to one line.
