About this example
Chris is applying for a senior role, so the bullets lead with budget, pipeline and launch revenue. The specialist job shows the hands-on work behind the management role. Older event coordination work is cut to one line.
How to write a marketing resume
Tie campaigns to pipeline or revenue
Marketers measure the effect of their programs. Pipeline, conversion rates and revenue from a launch are what hiring managers look for.
Say how much budget you managed
A budget figure tells a recruiter the size of your responsibility in one number.
Show research and reporting
Marketing specialists research customers and competitors and report on results. One bullet about how you measure and report keeps the page grounded.
List your platforms
HubSpot, Marketo, Salesforce, Google Ads and Google Analytics are searched for by name.
Cover letter lines for a marketing role
An opening and a closing written for the person in this example. Swap in your own numbers and the role you're applying for. Every template comes with a matching cover letter for the middle.
I'm applying for the Senior Marketing Manager role. At Tarrowfield Software I run a $1.4M demand generation budget, and marketing-sourced pipeline grew 46% last year.
I'd welcome the chance to share how I'd approach your next launch. Thank you for your time.
Common mistakes on marketing resumes
- Vanity metrics alone. Impressions and followers are fine for social roles, but most marketing jobs want pipeline or revenue.
- Listing every channel you've touched. Focus on the two or three you know best and show results in each.
- Creative layouts. Marketing resumes are still parsed by software. Keep the layout simple and the results strong.
Templates that suit marketing resumes
Blank versions with a cover letter and references page, in Letter and A4.

Modern Accent
35/35 fields readOne ink-blue accent on headings and rules, with a summary up top. Clean enough for any parser, with a little more personality.

Plain
33/33 fields readNothing but text, left-aligned, in Arial. A safe default for any job when you don't want the layout to be noticed.
